The event kicked off at the office in High Wycombe where staff members met volunteers from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and started the fund-raising early in the day. We then set off on a 20 mile charity run carrying an over-sized For Sale sign from our High Wycombe office to our Aylesbury office. Staff members took it in turns to carry this sign in pairs along the journey in a relay style event.
The route took us past the Head Office of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, in Saunderton, where we were cheered on by some of the charity’s staff and volunteers.
We finished at the office in Aylesbury with all the staff members in high spirits due to the run taking an amazing three and a half hours, a lot quicker than the estimated five! The weather was also on our side with not much rain but a good degree of cloud cover to keep us all cool.
After spending the afternoon continuing the fund raising efforts we then went to The Aristocrat for our evening event. This included music from 5 local acts; Captain Dale and the Seamen, Busker Rhymes, CJ Quinn, Kieland Ridge and Elisha Lunaire; a bbq and a raffle with over 20 prizes. Fun was had by all in attendance and we managed to sell out of raffle tickets.
In total we raised just under £2,000. Lisa Bishop (Community Fundraising Manager for Hearing Dogs) said: ‘It was a fantastic effort by the staff and supporters of Hurst Estate Agents and we are very grateful that they chose to support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. As the Charity does not receive any Government funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Funds raised ensure we can continue training our dogs to alert to important sounds and provide confidence and independence to deaf people.’
